Since its beginnings four generations ago as an electric motor and transformer rewinding business, the Family Run business has moved into the supply of new and refurbished power and distribution transformers, HV and LV switchgear, motors, and all manner of associated products and services.

Our history

1947
The original company, Electric Repairs (Nottingham) was established as a motor rewind and repair company for rotating electrical equipment of all sizes.
1985
David Bowers (formerly Managing Director of RF Winders Leeds) purchased Electric Repairs. He rebuilt the company introducing new motors and associated equipment, and refurbished transformers and switchgear.
1989
Michael Bowers joined the company.
1993
Electric Repairs (Nottingham) rebrands to Bowers Electricals Limited.
1994
Bowers Electricals Ltd moves to a new larger premises in Heanor, Derbyshire. For the first time, all manufacturing, development and testing facilities are centred under one roof.
1995
Bowers Electricals manufactures its first distribution transformer.
2000
Electrical Power Engineering Services (E.P.E.S) Limited associated company is formed. They provide the HV and LV turnkey supply and installation solutions.
2016
Bowers Intellivolt “Smart” Transformer range launched; award winning, variable reduction voltage optimisation system.
2019
Bowers Group of Companies Ltd became the parent holding company of Bowers Electricals Ltd.
2021
New Tier 2, EU 548/2014 regulation compliant range of Distribution Transformers launched.
2022
The Bowers Energy Saving Transformer (B.E.S.T) launched offering significantly low losses compared to conventional distribution transformers.
