Bowers Electricals Supports BEAMA 2050 Connected Climate Commitment to Accelerate Net Zero Across the Supply Chain

Bowers Electricals is proud to announce that we are part of the group of companies that will be supporting the BEAMA 2050 Connected Climate Commitment.

Bowers commits to Climate Commitment to achieve Net Zero

This initiative is a cross-sector commitment designed to accelerate coordinated decarbonisation and drive progress towards Net Zero across the UK’s energy, transport and built environment supply chains. We believe this initiative is only a natural extension of our own values here at Bowers Electricals. We understand this is a key and really positive step in the right direction, and we are happy to be part of it and play our part.

Emphasising the importance of collective action, BEAMA CEO, Yselkla Farmer, commented:

“This commitment will support the creation of low-carbon jobs, develop vital business skills, and accelerate the UK’s carbon reduction targets through a joined-up value chain approach. It will attract investment into low-carbon industries and reinforce the UK’s leadership in sustainable solutions.”
“Achieving Net Zero and a circular economy is a shared responsibility – either we succeed together, or we don’t succeed at all. Through this commitment, we pledge to support each other and our value chains in delivering real and lasting climate action.”

We are aiming to strengthen our contribution to a more sustainable, accountable and forward-thinking electrical infrastructure sector, and we believe that the BEAMA 2050 Connected Climate Commitment initiative allows us to do so perfectly.

As part of the commitment, we are committing to focus on reducing Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, supporting value chain decarbonisation, and contributing to the transition to Net Zero by 2050.

These commitments are universal amongst all committed industry-leading businesses, including Bowers Electricals, which is proud to be a member of this group of companies striving for Net Zero by 2050. These commitments pair with science-based targets aligned with a 1.5°C pathway, ensuring that emissions reduction strategies are measurable, credible and aligned with global climate goals.

Embedding sustainability into corporate governance as a whole is another key pillar of the BEAMA 2050 Connected Climate Commitment. With environmental responsibility becoming central to business strategy, we are focusing on long-term planning and operational decision-making and making sure it is embedded across all levels of the business.

The initiatives as part of this commitment focus on the integration of circular economy principles, and these being used in design and procurement processes. Applying this and prioritising the responsible use of materials and contributing to a more sustainable lifecycle approach is something Bowers Electricals will continue to bring into practice.

We at Bowers Electricals believe we have already shifted our focus to these strategies and practices, and believe the BEAMA 2050 Connected Climate Commitment only emphasises our current commitments and practices on this front.

Responsible policy and regulatory development are both initiatives we have also pledged to as part of this commitment. With the right policies and developments to infrastructure and working practices, we both independently and through BEAMA, believe we can shape frameworks that enable effective product decarbonisation and sustainable building practices.

Collaboration is at the heart of the climate commitment, and through active participation in BEAMA 2050 Connected Climate Commitment, Bowers Electricals will work alongside other industry leaders to ensure a more aligned, ambitious and coordinated approach to Net Zero and circularity across the supply chain.

Kevin Chapman, Managing Director at Bowers Electricals, commented as part of Bowers’ signing of the commitment:

“Supporting the UK Net Zero 2050 ambition is a natural extension of our values at Bowers Electricals. We are committed to continuous improvement, innovation, and responsible engineering practices that help transform our approach to global warming and protect future generations.”

By supporting the BEAMA 2050 Connected Climate Commitment, Bowers Electricals is not only aiming to strengthen our own Net Zero strategy, but also contribute to a wider industry movement focused on delivering practical, scalable and measurable climate action.
