Midel Service Partner

We have been using MIDEL ester fluids for over 35 years since we introduced transformers to our product offering. Therefore, we are honoured to become offically part of the Midel Service Partnership.

Midel Service PartnershipThe Midel Service Partnership (MSP) initiative was developed by MIDEL. It is a network of experienced oil service and maintenance companies that complete the retro filling of electrical transformers. Retrofilling is the process of replacing oil in an existing transformer and, in this case, replacing it with MIDEL ester fluid. This process extends the life of the transformer and delays the need to purchase an expensive new unit.

What are MIDEL fluids?

MIDEL is a range of natural and synthetic ester fluids which offers biodegradable alternatives to conventional transformer oils. The MIDEL fluid offering comprises of MIDEL eN 1215, MIDEL eN 1204 and MIDEL 7131.

MIDEL ester fluids are acknowledged for their excellent fire safety and environmental protection properties. As well as, their ability to extend the life of transformer cellulose insulation.

Advantages to MIDEL

Greatly reduces fire risk – the high fire point of MIDEL fluids eliminates the possibility of a transformer fire, thereby protecting lives and damage to property. The flash point of mineral oil is approximately 170ºC, whereas MIDEL fluids deliver a flash point of more than 300ºC.

Avoids risk of environmental contamination – MIDEL fluids are readily biodegradable, compared to non-biodegradable mineral oil. This allows you to avoid environmental damage should leaks occur.

Increases transformer life – retro filling with MIDEL will extend the transformer life and delay the investment of a new replacement transformer.

Cut operating expenses – maintenance of mineral oil transformers can be costly – consider oil filtration operations and maintenance of fire suppression systems. Using MIDEL can help reduce maintenance OpEx requirements.

Recommended by insurance companies – insurance companies recognise that all transformers are at risk of failure which can result in fire or environmental damage which directly affects business continuity. MIDEL fluids are known for reducing this risk, which is recognised by insurance companies.

Demonstrate corporate social responsibility – having a Midel Service Partner retrofill your transformer with MIDEL enables you to tangibly demonstrate your responsibility towards employees, customers, and society without needing to invest in a new transformer.
